When it comes to efficiently heating and cooling a home, having a furnace or air conditioner that is the appropriate size for your house makes a big difference. While we would love to have a rule of thumb to determine what size is best, it is difficult to determine which size system is right for you without having your home evaluated by a professional. For example, depending on how your house was built, one ton of air conditioning could sufficiently cool anywhere from 300-800 square feet of your home.

Incorrectly sized systems leave homeowners in a tough situation. If the system is too large, the homeowner can pay much more on their utility bill than they should. If it is too small, you may be left with one or more rooms that are not sufficiently heated and/or cooled. To ensure that your system is a perfect fit, you should have a professional perform an in-depth analysis of your home to ensure that you do not waste money on either side of the equation.

If you are interested in having a full Comfort Analysis done on your home, please give us a call! Precision Plumbing & Heating will send a qualified Comfort Adviser to take a look free of charge. This will help to ensure that you have a system that meets your home’s needs, as well as your budget!

That’s right – the furnace giveaways have officially begun! We installed the first American Standard High-Efficiency furnace in Aurora last week to a overjoyed family struggling to get by with the old, inefficient, and dangerous model they were using. More so, Ductworks agreed to help us out by cleaning the family’s air ducts at no charge! The winners were amazed at how much dust and trash was stuck in there ready to be vacuumed out. As always, Ductworks scraped all of the caked dirt and dust from the sides of the ducts and did an overall outstanding job for us. We greatly appreciate the help of Duct Works and American Standard for making this event possible.

Now, our goal is to find 11 more families to give furnaces to! Precision Furnace Giveaway Winner

Are you, or perhaps someone you know, in need of a new heating system this holiday season? During the winter months, an adequate heating system is imperative. Not only is it important for protecting your family, but it also helps to prevent issues such as frozen or burst pipes. Plus, heating can become a large expense over time if your system is not operating properly & efficiently.  A failed furnace can lead to catastrophic damage to your home and leave you and your family in an extremely uncomfortable situation!

Unfortunately, many people ignore (or are unaware of) the need for regular checkups and tune-ups on their furnace. Living in the Denver and Boulder areas, we are exposed to some extremely cold temperatures each year. Once winter has set in, temperatures can reach well below freezing. In fact, the coldest temperature ever recorded in Boulder, Colorado was -24 degrees (recorded in 1990). The lowest in Denver, Colorado was -29 degrees (recorded in 1875).

Understanding why pipes burst is an important part of learning how to prevent the occurrence. Many homeowners believe that pipes burst simply because of the expanding volume of water that has frozen in their pipes. While ice is part of the problem, this isn't the only reason for a burst pipe. Many pipes burst because of water caught between an ice blockage in the pipe and a closed faucet. The ice blockage prevents the water from retreating back to its source, causing a pressure build-up, leading to a burst pipe. While most pipes are strong enough to handle the occasional strain of increased water pressure, repeated stress can weaken the structural integrity of the pipes over time.

There are a number of ways to prevent this disaster from occurring in your home. During colder seasons (especially as temperatures reach 20 degrees and below), it is important to keep water running through your pipes on a consistent basis.  During deep freezes, many professionals recommend maintaining a slow trickle of water through your faucet to maintain a steady flow.  If you plan to leave your home for vacation, be sure not to turn your heat off entirely as it is vital to ensuring that your pipes maintain an adequate amount of heat.

As we prepare for winter, be sure to know exactly where your water emergency shutoff valve is and how to use it. Turning off the main supply of water can prevent a substantial amount of damage to your home once water begins to leak. If you need help in an emergency, think your house may be in need of re-piping, or you would simply like to learn more about protecting your home, please call one of our licensed technicians at 303-581-1455. We would also be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the heat in your home.

Precision Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric will drive the first all-electric service truck on the streets of Boulder, CO. Fueled by a strong commitment to the environment and to their bottom line, the home service company will use only one half-kilowatt hour per mile, leave no carbon footprint and save up to $5,000 per truck per year. Electric vehicles offer a better work environment for the driver as well as cleaner air and quieter neighborhoods for customers.

“This is the future and everyone needs to do their part with energy conservation. There is no reason why a plumber can’t lead the way and set the example,” said Precision Owner and President Tom Robichaud. “The electric motor is two to five times more efficient than a diesel engine. Higher efficiency means less energy consumption. Less energy consumption means lower costs and less pollution.”

Carter Brown, CEO of Boulder Electric Vehicle and a long time Precision customer invented the vehicle. After a bit of coaxing, he convinced Robichaud to test-drive the truck that he felt would be a perfect fit for the home service industry because of the short routes service technicians drive daily. After additional meetings and research, Robichaud
was sold on the benefit to the environment, his business and the community. Precision is Boulder Electric Vehicle’s first customer and Tom Rochichaud has committed to purchasing 20 vehicles for his fleet at a cost of 1.4 million.

Expanding his commitment to go green, Robichaud hired Bella Energy of Louisville, CO to install solar panels on Precision headquarters to help re-charge the batteries for eight hours at night after technicians drive them 120 miles during the day.

Precision Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric has served the Boulder and Denver regions for almost three decades.
