Precision Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric will drive the first all-electric service truck on the streets of Boulder, CO. Fueled by a strong commitment to the environment and to their bottom line, the home service company will use only one half-kilowatt hour per mile, leave no carbon footprint and save up to $5,000 per truck per year.
Electric vehicles offer a better work environment for the driver as well as cleaner air and quieter neighborhoods for customers.
“This is the future and everyone needs to do their part with energy conservation. There is no reason why a plumber can’t lead the way and set the example,” said Precision Owner and President Tom Robichaud. “The electric motor is two to five times more efficient than a diesel engine. Higher efficiency means less energy consumption. Less energy consumption means lower costs and less pollution.”
Carter Brown, CEO of Boulder Electric Vehicle and a long time Precision customer invented the vehicle. After a bit of coaxing, he convinced Robichaud to test-drive the truck that he felt would be a perfect fit for the home service industry because of the short routes service technicians drive daily. After additional meetings and research, Robichaud was sold on the benefit to the environment, his business and the community.
Precision is Boulder Electric Vehicle’s first customer and Tom Rochichaud has committed to purchasing 20 vehicles for his fleet at a cost of 1.4 million.
Expanding his commitment to go green, Robichaud hired Bella Energy of Louisville, CO to install solar panels on Precision headquarters to help re-charge the batteries for eight hours at night after technicians drive them 120 miles during the day.
Precision Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electric has served the Boulder and Denver regions for almost three decades.
